The standard 1.2L turbocharged EcoTec engine, exclusive to the Preferred trim, produces 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. This engine option comes with a continuous variable transmission and front-wheel drive capabilities.
An enhanced 1.3L engine, available on the Preferred trim and standard on the Sport Touring and Avenir trims, improves the performance to 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. The front-wheel drive version of this engine comes exclusively with a continuous variable transmission, whereas the all-wheel drive version is paired with a smooth nine-speed automatic transmission and a drive mode selector for just about any condition you’ll encounter.
When equipped with the trailering package, the Encore GX has a maximum towing capacity of approximately 1,000 pounds.
